Vacancy – Museum Manager at Bakewell Old House Museum
£18,432 part time (30 hours per week over 4 days – flexible hours)
Set in the heart of the Peak District, the Old House Museum dates from the Tudor period. Rescued from demolition after 500 years of continuous use, the museum now tells the story of the area to local audiences and tourists through displays and events.
We are looking for a dynamic Museum Manager, who will manage our team of dedicated and knowledgeable volunteers, to deliver a high-quality visitor experience, whilst caring for the collection of 9,000 objects.
Our manager will be personable, have great attention to detail and will be able to use initiative taking responsibility day to day. They will be happy working alone or with volunteers and liaising closely with the Board of Trustees and the Museum Committee. During the winter closure the Museum Manager will be responsible for overseeing activities such as deep cleaning, collections management and supervising building repairs. Experience within the museum sector is preferred but not essential. We will provide opportunities for training through professional bodies, Trustees, and volunteers.
