We are looking for an enthusiastic Relief Heritage Assistant to work at the D. H. Lawrence Birthplace Museum in Eastwood, Nottinghamshire. If you are a friendly and outgoing person who can demonstrate a positive attitude towards customer service, are committed to achieving high standards and looking for your first step into the heritage sector, you would be perfect for this role.
Relief staff are expected to cover staff holidays and sickness periods as well as providing additional support during peak times, such as group and school tours and on or off site events.
Duties will include working front of house booking in tours on our computerised booking system and taking payments, both in person and over the phone, giving guided tours around the Birthplace Museum, including specialist school and group tours, and general reception and gift shop duties along with cash handling.
Successful candidates should have good customer service skills and the ability to interact well with customers of all ages. An interest in D.H. Lawrence and local social history as well as competent ICT skills would be an advantage.
The hours of work will typically be 9.45am – 4.15pm on a variety of shifts, dependent on service needs, covering Tuesday to Saturday. Due to the nature of this position the successful candidate will need to be flexible, as they may also be required to work outside these hours for special events, school visits and evening tours.
