Jobs: Website and Publicity Officer (Voluntary) – MidFed

January 27, 2014

The Midlands Federation of Museums and Art Galleries (MidFed) are seeking to recruit a voluntary Website and Publicity officer for 2014-15, as a single role or job share.

MidFed is run by a voluntary council of 15 people with 2 co-opted members.  The people on council hold various positions from personal members to president.

Place yourself at the heart of Mid Fed and the museums and galleries profession in the region.

  • Gain new skills, knowledge and experience to support your career development
  • Meet new people and develop your professional networks
  • Learn about charity law and the role of the trustee
  • Be among the first to hear about the latest issues affecting the museums sector in the region
  • Make an active contribution to debate and advocacy about issues affecting the profession
  • Enable a successful organisation to deliver its objectives.

Five seminars per year are arranged around the region. You’ll get to explore those venues you keep meaning to visit (you decide where), and those you don’t yet know about.  Learn about other organisations risks and successes, meet the movers and shakers in the profession and those implementing changes and overseeing  strategies.   All this is on offer, and you can help drive forwards a vital organisation in its new vision, business plan and developing website.

As website and publicity officer your responsibilities would include:

  • Input ideas for seminars along with the whole council in response to MidFed member and sector needs for training seminars
  • Publicise information on the organisation website
  • Tweet for Mid Fed
  • Advertise and promote the meeting seminars 5 times per year
  • Be a trustee for the organisation
  • A vital contributor in council meetings, 5 per year, delivering the aims and objectives of MidFed
  • You might also represent the MidFed at regional or national events.

Are you eligible to apply?

Professionals, retired, students, those between contracts, volunteers. From any discipline within the gallery and museum sector.
