Job Opportunity: East Midlands Coordinator

Reports to: Regional Digitisation Manager

Job Purpose: To catalogue sculpture in collections within an allocated area during the Delivery Phase of the Art UK Sculpture project

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Liaise with the specified collections participating in the Art UK Sculpture project, within an allocated area, communicating the importance of the sculpture project and the work of Art UK to all collections
  • Ensure legal agreements are signed by the participating collections
  • Collect sculpture data from the participating collections
  • Organise photography, in liaison with a Photographer and collection staff
  • Take record shots of sculpture, as needed, and take images of the digitisation process in action for blogs, stories and social media, as agreed with the participating collections
  • Assist in the management of the Field Volunteers, as needed
  • Assist the collection with cataloguing, if necessary
  • Ensure sculpture data is complete and as accurate as the collection can make it
  • Ensure sculpture data is presented in a way that is consistent with Art UK house style
  • Prepare monthly progress reports, as directed by the Regional Digitisation Manager
  • Communicate project milestones and achievements via social media, blogs and Art UK
  • Gather interesting stories about the sculpture, collections and artists for Art UK
  • Undertake training and review sessions, as required
  1. Experience and Qualities

Essential:

  • First-class written and spoken communication skills and the confidence to engage and work effectively with a range of people, including the public, project partners, consultants, the media, volunteers, collection staff and Art UK colleagues
  • Self-motivated and reliable, with a clear focus on reaching deadlines on time and on budget
  • Must be adept in use of Excel and Word, as well as the Internet and email
  • Able to travel to meetings and photo shoots within their allocated region
  • Must be able to work from home, with use of a laptop or PC with broadband access

Desirable:

  • Good knowledge of the geography and public collections in their allocated region
  • Interest in art and/or heritage collections

  • Work from home
  • Part-time temporary post for 2 years
  • 2 days a week / 0.4 FTE
  • Salary: £24,000 per annum (pro rata)
  • Travel expenses:  up to £2,000 per year
  • 25 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays (pro rata)
