The changes and challenges for museum retail because of Covid-19 have been hard, especially for the smaller museums. However, with more people wanting to support, stay and buy local, museums are in a unique position to maximise on this and create a resilient income stream through their shops. In this session Polly (from the Association for Cultural Enterprises) will talk about;

  • Quick wins for making small inexpensive changes with maximum impact.
  • The basic numbers
  • Product, suppliers, and product development
  • Online options and marketing
  • Plenty of time for questions

This course will highlight best practice in using on-site facilities for earned income from retail, with practical tips for launching these offers.

This training is suitable for those in a position to implement an onsite retail offer – such as Trustees, managers, and volunteer coordinators. No previous experience of retail is needed.

Who should attend?

This training session is for museums based in either the East Midlands or East of England and is being run jointly by MDEM and Share East. Museums can attend this session as a one off, however it is part of an 8 session training programme focusing on diversifying income.

Please note by signing up to MDEM training you are agreeing to our terms and conditions.

MDEM is committed to providing all training in an accessible format and have a dedicated budget to enable this. Please indicate as part of booking if you require any further access support or clarification.
