I am pleased to announce that my first MA Tweet Up will be held at Derby Museum and Art Gallery on Thursday 14 December 2017 from 4pm.
For the first time this informal networking event is open to all museum practitioners across the East and West Midlands and is run in partnership with Midlands Federation of Museums and Galleries (or MidFed). MA members and non-members, tweeters and non-tweeters welcome!
We will meet at Derby Museum and Art Gallery at 4pm. We will then be given a guided tour of the ARTIST ROOMS – Richard Long: Drawn from the Land exhibition by Jonathan Wallis Head of Museums & Museum and Art Gallery Development.
After the tour we will move to the Silk Mill pub (around 5.30pm)
Richard Long: Drawn from the Land
This exhibition, drawn from the ARTIST ROOMS collection, is an opportunity to explore the artist’s radical re-thinking of art and landscape, set against the backdrop of Derby and the Peak District.
Midlands Federation of Museums and Galleries (or MidFed)
A networking and training organisation for museum professionals across the midlands, MidFed is one of the largest Federations in the country. Covering a region that is rich in museums and diverse in its character, stretching from the Welsh border to Lincolnshire, and from Nottinghamshire to Northamptonshire, the Fed is unique in its reach across both sides of the midlands. Members come from every type of museum and gallery – small independents, big city institutions, military museums, local authority museums and art galleries.

By car
The nearest off site car park is Parksafe on Bold Lane, 50 metres from the Museum. There is a charge of £4.40 for up to four hours. There are 11 clearly marked Blue Badge parking spaces available free of charge. This car park is open 24 hours a day.
By Train
Derby train station is 20 minutes’ walk away
By Bus
There are frequent and regular bus services into the city centre, operated by Trent Barton and Arriva. Derby Bus Station is a 10 minute walk away.
