Collections Housekeeping and Cleaning
Discover why housekeeping really is essential for museums and learn about the most appropriate ways to clean a range of objects and materials.
The course will be led by the Regional Collections Adviser, Anita Hollinshead, and includes presentations, discussions and a practical collections cleaning session. There will be demonstrations of cleaning techniques, advice on how to create a cleaning kit and information about grants available to support this area of work. All delegates will receive a pack of handouts and sources of further information.
The course is designed for both museum employees and volunteers who have a role in caring for collections at their site. It is suitable for those who are completely new to museum work as well as those with some experience.
