This workshop is part of the MDEM and Collections Trust collaborative training programme of support & will focus on object entry.

Do you have an Object entry or Acquisition and accessioning issue you’d like to troubleshoot with a group of sector colleagues? Or would you like to learn about the Spectrum procedures from a more practical perspective?

We will take a scenario discussion approach to explore issues and themes related to Object entry and Acquisition and accessioning. Perhaps you would like to discuss how to prevent or deal with unsolicited donations, uncollected objects, or the decision-making process for acquisitions.

Small groups will each be given a different scenario to consider. Thoughts and questions will then be fed back to the wider group for open discussion.

Preparation:

  • Ideally we will discuss a selection of real issues and scenarios. If you have them, please do submit a scenario or question when you register – they will be made anonymous. We cannot guarantee yours will be picked but we will do our best to cover a range of issues.
  • Take a look at the relevant Spectrum procedures in advance, as a refresher.
  • Think about how you do things in your museum and come prepared to discuss this.

Who should attend?
This training session is for museums staff and volunteers based in the East Midlands who have collections management as part of their remit.

Please note by signing up to MDEM training you are agreeing to our terms and conditions.

MDEM is committed to providing all training in an accessible format and have a dedicated budget to enable this. Please indicate as part of booking if you require any further access support or clarification.
