The Daphne Bullard Grant

The Daphne Bullard Trust was set up in 1973 on the initiative of the family of the late Mrs Daphne Bullard, Keeper of Worcestershire County Museum at Hartlebury Castle, “to promote the conservation of dress and textiles of all periods and their display.”  It considers applications from organisations engaged in the conservation of dress and textiles of any period and their display. It was amalgamated with the Kathy Callow and Elizabeth Hammond Grant in the Association in 2016.

What projects are eligible?

Any projects which are concerned with the conservation of dress or textiles in public collections. Preference is given to projects where there is long-term material benefit to a collection. The outcome of the conservation should be to the continuing benefit of the object and increased public access.

Grants will not be given to assist with living costs or course fees or education for staff, volunteers or students. We do not support projects where ‘permanent display’ is used to describe how the object(s) will be made accessible to the public – please see terms and conditions for further information.

Who can apply?

Grants are made to smaller Accredited museums or those working towards Accreditation. The Application should be completed by someone with direct involvement or responsibility for the work proposed by the grant, and needs to be supported by someone in authority within the museum’s organisation.

How much is available and when to apply:

The total sum available for grants each year is approximately £1,000. Grants are made on a first come first served basis with the grant year starting in July. Applications may be made at any time. Applications which are eligible for a grant but for which there is no funding may be held over at the applicant’s request, until funding is available the following year.
