Engaging Children & Young People

The Engaging Children & Young People programme will help museums to recruit, manage and support children and young people to have an active and influential role in the museum.

Through partnerships, the project will help museums identify young people to work with and young people will be involved in the development of the project throughout. .

What does the programme cover?

  • The programme welcomes all kinds of projects at all levels.
  • You may not know exactly what support you need or what project you want to develop, in which case the programme facilitator will help you expand your ideas.
  • Museums that are at a more advanced stage in their work with young people may wish to gain support and assistance in a more specific area or use the programme to explore a new area of activity.

Are you eligible to apply?

Enquiries are encouraged from all types and sizes of museums that are Accredited or working towards Accreditation. If you are unsure of your eligibility contact Claire Browne.

Are there any associated grant funds?

A small grant of up to £2000 will be available to all participating museums to support implementation of action plans developed as part of this programme. The level of grant awarded will vary depending upon the scale of the project.

Other information

Please be aware that you will need to nominate a contact person for the duration of this funded development support. The programme may involve some regional travel to events and training..
