Museum Accreditation – New Returns Schedule

Posted on November 1, 2018
Museum Accreditation – New Returns Schedule

Arts Council England (ACE) has now published the revised returns timetables following the Accreditation Review, completed in autumn 2018. Acting on feedback from the review the returns schedule has increased from three to five years so all museums will have a new return deadline during 2018-2024.

The timetable for East Midlands Accredited museums is downloadable here:East Midlands Accreditation Returns Schedule.xlsx

The Accreditation scheme relaunches today on the 1st November. Visit the ACE website for more information, and full guidance will be released by the end of 2018.

Provisional award

Museums currently holding a provisional award are not included in the list because they already have a deadline for a provisional review which overrides their return deadline. These museums will be slotted back into the returns schedule, to be agreed with ACE as part of the provisional review.

Invitations and return deadlines

Museums/museum services will be invited to provide returns six months before the submission deadline. You’ll receive a letter to confirm this and invite you to reapply. We will also be in touch to offer targeted support and advice.

Help and support:

We will shortly be launching a new training programme which covers all three areas of museum accreditation. This will cover both the old and new standard and will be available to anyone returning within 12 months of the training date. In the mean time, if you have any particular queries, please contact Sarah Hartshorne the Accreditation Advisor for the East Midlands.
