Made in Mansfield – new exhibition
It’s been three and a half years in the making but at long last the brand new ‘Made in Mansfield’ gallery will be unveiled on Thursday 23 October 2014.
Made In Mansfield at Mansfield Museum, is a gallery and exhibition dedicated to the celebration of the distinguished industrial history of the Mansfield area.
Since early 2011, Mansfield Museum have drawn up proposals; been scrutinised by our principal benefactors, the Heritage Lottery Fund; designed and re-designed displays and discussed every minute aspect of this grand project to transform the entrance gallery of our Museum. Designers, craftsmen, tradesmen, researchers, volunteers and Museum staff have all been involved in one of the most dynamic projects we have ever undertaken.
And now, at long last, the objects have been selected, cases constructed, lighting and flooring installed, text written, photographs chosen and the memories and anecdotes of the people at the centre of this story – the workers – recorded. The early days of this month will see the installation of the new displays and interactives in what we hope will be a transformation of the Museum gateway.
Which should find us ready to have the ribbon cut on the morning of the 23 October 2014, after which Made In Mansfield will be open for our visitors to experience – and hopefully enjoy!
