Job Vacancy: Textile Researcher

Posted on February 19, 2018
Job Vacancy: Textile Researcher
Closing Date : 07/03/2018
Salary : Grade G (£27,285 – £31,604 p.a.)
Are you an academic looking for an innovative and successful university to take your next step? At NTU, we recognise that our greatest strengths lie in the energy, expertise, and experience that our colleagues bring.  Thanks to our £421million investment in estates and equipment across our three campuses since 2003/4, we deliver an inspirational learning environment for both staff and students.  Our research facilities allow us to shape lives and society, which is central to our mission and achievements of our aim.

The School of Art and Design’s research into the textile heritage of the East Midlands has a strong community focus – building on the School’s origin in the mid nineteenth century, serving the local lace industry. We plan to develop this community focus through a regional textile heritage network, in collaboration with several museums, companies and other universities, developed through a recent Museums Universities Partnership Initiative award. This Research Fellow post will support this development by helping us to develop and consolidate that network, clarify the detail of the network and its activities and take a significant role in securing funding to support its activities and longevity. Suitable applicants to the post will have a PhD in local history or other cognate discipline, experience of working collaboratively and bidding for funding, an on-going research interest in tangible/ intangible heritage and its significance for communities.
