Are there things going “crunch” in the night in your museum? Are your windowsills littered with unidentified corpses? This practical two-day course will provide you with the knowledge to identify a wide range of museum insect pest species, how to find insects in your museum and how to set up a monitoring programme. It will also look at ways of controlling pests if they have discovered your collections. Real-life case studies are used to show how the knowledge gained can be used to implement Integrated Pest Management. The focus is on practical identification of pest species, and the locations where they are likely to be found.

Who should attend? All those with responsibility for pest programmes and those who want to gain a greater understanding of what insects are eating their collections. The course will be especially useful for those working towards museums Accreditation or maintaining the Accreditation standard. No prior knowledge is necessary and this course is aimed at all abilities.

If you sign up to attend this workshop, you need to be able to attend both days.

Previous delegates have recommended the course highly:

“Excellent in content and presentation. Answered all of my questions and was a very practical session. It was also very entertaining.” Course delegate.

“First Class throughout”, “Excellent, great experience comparing and identifying insects. Very useful guidelines and pointers”. – Course delegate.

Please note: by signing upto an MDEM event you agree to meet our terms and conditions of training. These include letting us know if you can’t attend and paying a £25 cancellation fee if you cancel with less than 24 hours notice, you can find out more information here: http://bit.ly/2D53lKA
