An Introduction to Copyright
Sywell Aerodrome
Hall Farm, Northamptonshire, Sywell NN6 0BN
UK
Copyright compliance is an important issue for museums and heritage sites, and also a requirement of being an Accredited museum. Any heritage organisation will have multiple and constant issues relating to copyright which will underpin content and collection acquisition, loans, creation, commissioning, use and curation. This means that staff and volunteers need to understand how copyright works, its application to collections management, its relationship to digitisation and how they can navigate more complex issues about orphan works, social media and creative commons licences.
This workshop, run by leading copyright specialist – Naomi korn – will provide an overview about the key issues presented in a powerpoint free and interactive learning environment. All the sessions will be supported by handouts and time will be provided for group discussions, scenarios and questions.
This event is being run in partnership between Museum Development East Midlands (MDEM) and the Northamptonshire Heritage Forum. by signing up to the event you are agreeing to meet the MDEM terms and conditions, including the aknowledgement that photos taken at the event may be used by MDEM, and you will be required to provide event feedback at times.
Lunch and refreshements will be provided throughout the day by the Northamptonshire Forum. They do request that delegates consider a £5 donation to support the forum to cover refreshement costs and keep their events largely free for delegates. There will be the opportunity to donate during the course of the training day.
