Mystery Shopper Report 2017

The Mystery Shopper Programme was part of the wider ‘Engaging Children and Young People’ programme of work being undertaken by MDEM and facilitated by Davey Ivens between 2015-2018.

What is it?

This innovative programme aimed to give museums in the region direct and independent feedback on their offer to children, young people and families; highlighting what they already do well and where there are areas for development.

From March 2016, fully trained ‘family teams’ and ‘teen teams’ of Mystery Shoppers visited participating museums to assess all their services and facilities aimed at families and younger visitors: from websites to front of house; accessibility to interactive displays; exhibitions to toilets; museum shops to family activities.

You can view the full report with a comprehensive overview of the findings and also challenges of the programme here: MDEM Mystery Shopper 2016-17 – Report

We will continue to support museums through this programme. Contact Claire Browne for more information.
