Could you contribute to My Learning’s WW1 online resource?

July 31, 2013

My Learning want to hear from any arts, heritage or cultural organisation who would like to contribute to their special WW1 Centenary online learning resource, in 2014.

My Learning’s aim is to provide teachers and learners with a snapshot of the huge wealth of WW1-related material available around the country on their website at www.mylearning.org.

How to take part

Decide which WW1-related object in your collection you would most like to showcase to schools, then send the details to My Learning (see below)and they will look at how it could fit into their dedicated Centenary resource.

All that is required is a good quality, high-resolution JPEG image of your WW1-related object, document or artwork together with the following basic information:

  • What is it, who made it and how old is it?
  • What was it used for and who used it?
  • What’s so special about it, what’s the story?

Contributions received so far range from tickets of leave, badges and postcards, to oil paintings, aircraft tyres  and even a whole factor (or rather, a photo of one). Each has its own particular story to tell and together they represent a fascinating and enormously valuable learning opportunity for children and young people.

You do not have to be an existing My Learning contributor to qualify for inclusion, as My Learning are keen to welcome any partners who meet with their eligibility criteria.

How do we get involved?

To get involved or find out more, email info@mylearning.org or call Alison Glew on 0773 258 5959.

The deadline for expressions of interest is 31 August 2013.
