SHIRE Grants for Leicestershire’s Independent Museums

Independent Museums and Heritage Groups, operating in Leicestershire, are eligible to apply for grant funding of up to £500 from the Leicestershire County Council Communities & Wellbeing Service.

What can SHIRE Grants be used for?

SHIRE Grants, funded through Leicestershire County Council, are available to assist organisations which preserve collections of artefacts , connected with Leicestershire. Grants are intended to be one-off awards for specific projects such as access and audience development, collections documentation, conservation, storage or display. Grants can also part-fund essential equipment and materials or help improve the security and interpretation of your collections, as well as funding the production of publications and marketing materials.

Essential Information

Grants are available, up to the value of £500. The deadline for receipt of applications is Friday 19 December 2014, 5pm. All evidence of grant spend, must be submitted by 28 February 2015.

What does the fund not cover?

The fund is unable to support staffing costs, running costs and day-to-day expenses, however, projects which require funding to employ staff on a temporary basis to help complete a specific project, will be considered.

Who can apply?

independent Museums and heritage preservation groups with historic collections, must be operating withing the administrative boundaries of Leicestershire and be members of the Leicestershire and Rutland Heritage Forum.
