Position: Volunteer Schools Workshop co-ordinator/leader
Organisation: RAF College Cranwell
Location: UK, England, Lincolnshire
Closing date: open ended

Job Type: Volunteer
Contract Type: Permanent

Do you enjoy meeting people, Do you like working with Children? Would you like to be part of the hugely important heritage engagement in the Grade 2 listed spiritual home of the Royal Air Force at the RAF College Cranwell?

The RAF College is a working Phase 1 officer’s training mess and houses a significant heritage collection relating to the Royal Air Force’s 100 years of service to the Crown.  We are in the process of working towards Arts Council Museum accreditation and therefore this is an exciting time to join the heritage team.

We have developed a hugely popular schools’ workshop for children aged 8 to 11 years and are now looking for an enthusiastic volunteer to help us continue to run these.  The history of the College comes alive through these workshops and is truly inspiring to the next generation.

We are looking for people who would like to engage with children and schools, have an interest in/knowledge of RAF history, or have other experience or skills they can share.

No previous experience is needed as full training will be given.  Alongside a team of station volunteers, you will help facilitate an established schools’  workshops format with the opportunity to develop/evolve the programme over time.

We offer flexible patterns of volunteering and you will join a friendly team of volunteers and permanent staff from across RAF College Cranwell. The College building has good access and ample parking.

During the COVID pandemic, we are operating on a limited occupancy basis and strict COVID measures are in place to ensure the safety of our personnel and visitors.

We are excited about opening the College to schools again and showcasing our great history.
