Nottingham Industrial Museum recruiting a new Marketing & Communications Director

July 8, 2016

Join our newly formed Board: one of the few local museums to be 100% volunteer-run and established as its own company.

In 1966 the stable yard at Wollaton Park became home to a unique collection of local industrial heritage pieces (largely concentrating on the local textile, coal mining and bicycle / motorcycle trades). Since then, the museum has grown into a much-loved attraction, famous for its Steaming Sundays when the steam-powered exhibits (notably Basford’s giant Beam Engine) are powered up. In April 2016, the museum became one of the few museums in the East Midlands to be 100% volunteer-run and established as its own company, independent from Nottinghamshire City Council. A Board was formed, and there is a vacancy on it for a new talent to join and run the marketing aspects of the museum.

We are looking for someone to drive our website and social media, generate local and specialist PR, and promote the museum nationwide wherever possible. Our museum celebrates the history of industry in Nottingham and the local area. Is there someone who can join us to help drive awareness of, and visitors to, this wonderful site? Help us survive and evolve into an even better attraction, setting an example to other under-invested museums across the UK to take the reins and control their own destiny.

For details, or expressing an interest, please contact roland.metcalfe@virgin.net, or visit www.nottinghamindustrialmuseum.co.uk to see what we’re all about.

Closing date for expressions of interest 1st September 2016.
