Vital Valley: A creative future for the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site

Project Officer (Vital Valley)

Grade 11: £30,788 – £33,821 per annum

Full Time, Fixed Term Contract, due to funding, for 3 years from start date

37 hours per week: Shand House, Darley Dale

The Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site is the only World Heritage Site in the East Midlands. It was inscribed onto UNESCO’s World Heritage List in 2001 as the 15 mile stretch of the Derwent Valley, from just south of Matlock Bath through to Derby, is the birthplace of the ‘modern’ factory system and the communities and infrastructure that were developed to support it.  These technological interventions sit in the still recognisable and beautiful 18th century landscape into which they were inserted.

The Heritage Lottery Fund, Arts Council England and Historic England have awarded the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site Partnership a £1.5m Great Place scheme – Vital Valley. This post represents an exciting opportunity to lead and coordinate this 3 year scheme.

Vital Valley’s vision is to inspire and enable people to have a sense of pride in and belong to the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site and to do this by celebrating of the Valley’s heritage and through arts.

Closing Date: 23 July 2017

Provisional interview date: Week commencing 31 July 2017
