Who won an Innovation in Museum Displays round one grant?

Four heritage organisations have begun experimenting with improving innovation in their displays:

  • Swannington Heritage Trust
  • Sharpe’s Pottery Museum
  • Sir John Moore Foundation
  • Creswell Crags Heritage Trust

The selection panel consisted of nationally respected judges, Katy Archer (Director of the People’s History Museum), Rachel Cockett (Director of Development at Birmingham Museums Trust) and Manny Coulon (Director of IdeasForTheKids.com).

For a full account of the planning workshop day, with round one participants and mentors, please visit http://www.innovationinmuseumdisplays.co.uk/26th-sept-workshop-writing.html

How can I learn from their projects?

The project has a website and blog, where you can view participant learning and further information. Here you can join in the discussion, ask us questions and see what the participants have been doing:

Is my museum eligible to apply?

Round two funding will be opening shortly. Grants between £1,000 and £10,000 will be available.

Round two opening times will be announced via the EMMS mailing list and website, the Innovations in Museum Displays website and the Museum Development East Midlands E-news and website (right here).

The deadline for applications…

…is expected to be in January 2014, ready for projects to take place within the 2014/15 financial year. The application process is a supportive one so please feel free to discuss your application with the EMMS team before submitting.

Further information on how to make an application, can be found here: http://www.innovationinmuseumdisplays.co.uk/apply.html

If you apply, please make sure you can attend the initial workshop on Wednesday 26 March 2014.
