Wartime Woodhall 1914-18 – new exhibition opens in September

August 21, 2014

Local people who gave their lives in the Great War and are commemorated on local war memorials are the focus of a temporary exhibition currently on show at the Cottage Museum in Woodhall Spa.

Names from War memorials at Woodhall Spa, Kirkstead, Martindales and Roughton are featured in the exhibition alongside a selection of personal items and memorabilia connected with the period of the First World War.

Volunteers at the Cottage Museum are very keen to add to the information they already hold about this important event and the people who were involved.

The Museum is delighted that some visitors have already passed on information concerning some of the soldiers commemorated on the War memorials. This will help build up the Archive and provide a valuable local resource for the future.

The current exhibition will run until the end of August when it be changed to focus on everyday life during the first few months of the First World War. The new display will open on the 3rd September and will include a brand new digital display in addition to images of Woodhall Spa during this period.

If you have any information, pictures or memorabilia which you feel may be of interest and would like to share, then please do contact the Museum on 01526 353 775 or info@cottagemuseum.co.uk.

The Cottage Museum, Iddesleigh Road, Woodhall Spa LN10 6SH is open every day until the end of October 10.30am – 4.30pm. There is a small admission charge and we look forward very much to welcoming you at our award winning museum!
