Your opportunity to prove your museum’s value and economic importance

February 10, 2014

The East Midlands Annual Survey has arrived. This is your museum / heritage site’s opportunity to help us prove its value and economic importance.

The survey aims to capture statistical data about your museum or heritage site (including National Trust properties) it’s visitors, volunteers, staff and your spend on goods and services, between 01 January and 31 December 2013.

Why should you complete this survey? What’s in it for you?
The results of this survey will help to prove the value and economic importance of museums both locally and regionally to funders and stakeholders. We will publish the results so you can use the information directly. If enough detailed information is provided we can provide you with a personal assessment of your museum’s economic contribution, using the AIM toolkit model.

Completion Statistics from 2012 survey:

46% of museums in Lincolnshire and 47% of museums in Nottinghamshire returned surveys last year – successfully increasing the number returned from the 2010 survey.

Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Northamptonshire produced poor return rates – this year we would like to see more returns from museums in these three counties. We received zero responses from National Trust properties – we’d like to hear from you too.

What do I need to do? When is the deadline?
Please complete to the best of your knowledge and return to me (danielle.kennell@leics.gov.uk), by email no later than Friday 28 February 2014.

A summary of key finds from the 2012 survey is available to download here.
