Newark Air Museum ‘Project Panini’ – fundraising for new Education & Café facility

October 15, 2014

In 2013 Newark Air Museum launched its ‘Project Panini’ fundraising appeal, which successfully raised more than £10,000 towards the project development costs of its new proposed Education & Café facility.

Using the designs funded by this appeal, the museum is now moving towards the exciting ‘build phase’ of the project. This means that the museum is faced with an altogether more daunting target of having to raise over half a million pounds to build the Education & Café facility.

The museum trustees have identified several grant-giving organisations, with whom they are already working with on grant applications to cover significant aspects of the project. One application that was scheduled for submission this week has been delayed until the end of the year to improve the possibility of a successful application.

However to be successful with any of these applications we needs to demonstrate that we can generate significant partnership funds, which will help to ensure that this vital new development moves forward.

In the coming weeks and months the museum will be submitting an outline planning application for the project; then seeking tenders for the construction work; and then awarding the build contract for the project.

Build Phase appeal

A new appeal for the ‘Build Phase’ of the project has just been launched and contributions can be made by at Newark Air Museum’s JUST GIVING fundraising page.

The appeal still allows project supporters to make a donation towards a ‘Photographic Panini’, which will carry their name and brief message. Initially these ‘Photographic Paninis’ are being displayed in the current museum café; they will then being incorporated into a presentation folder that will be displayed in the new education / café building when it is completed.

Other fundraising initiatives

Various fund raising initiatives are still being used to support ‘Project Panini – The Build’; this includes the allocation of donations from the sale of second-hand books, the site donation boxes and open-cockpit admission fees / donations into the project fund.

As the project evolves additional details of the new running total for the project, will feature on the Newark Air Museum website.

The Grand Running Total

The grand running total for all aspects of the Education & Café facility as of 14 October 2014 is £ 13,197.59 and all of these donations along with funds raised, form part of an ‘Allocated Fund’ for the project in the museums accounts.
