Museums Association January Tweet Up – East Midlands

January 4, 2017

We are very pleased that this will be held at Erewash Museum in Ilkeston on Tuesday 31st January 2017, from 6:45pm. This will be an informal networking event open to all museum practitioners in the region- MA members and non-members, tweeters and non- tweeters!

Erewash Museum is a social history museum set in a beautiful late Georgian house, telling the story of Erewash borough. The grounds also give wonderful views over Erewash valley. The museum has recently benefitted from a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund to convert the old stables into a permanent exhibition, café and learning space.

We are delighted that Helen Martinez and Rebecca Buck will be giving us a talk about the museum and their successful HLF project.

This is a unique opportunity to see the impact of a capital project on a local authority museum, and to network with other museum professionals from the east midlands. We will meet at the front door of the museum for a 6:45pm start.

After the tour we will move to Hogarth’s pub, a 5 minute walk from the museum, where there will be the opportunity to continue the conversation. All are welcome to join us there even if you are unable to make the tour.

If you would like to attend or have any questions, then please contact Simon Brown, MA representative for the East Midlands, at simon.brown@nottinghamcity.gov.uk or 07834 828107

Erewash Museum is in the centre of Ilkeston, close to many bus stops with regular services to Derby and Nottingham. There are also plenty of car parks nearby. For a map and more information please see www.erewashmuseum.co.uk/index.php/about-us/contact-us.html

We look forward to seeing you there!
