Salary: £24,892 – £26,539 a year (pro rata)

We are a new charitable trust, managing Derby’s three museums and 5 stores with their extensive and world-renowned collections. Our change programme focuses first on transforming our customers’ experience of these significant collections. However, it will also re-energise our organisational structures and systems to enhance our effectiveness while making the most of commercial opportunities.

The Role

Derby Museums is recruiting a new Curator of Making to be based at the Silk Mill in Derby, site of the world’s first fully mechanised factory. Working closely with colleagues and our co-production volunteers and partners, you would support the continued redevelopment of the Silk Mill as a museum to inspire the maker, creator and innovator in us all, utilising our collections to co-produce our displays and programmes with audiences and co-production volunteers.

The successful candidate will be an experienced professional who has managed collections and worked with colleagues, audiences and volunteers to find new ways to engage people in those collections.

You will be an excellent communicator and display high levels of enthusiasm and commitment. Confident and capable in planning and delivering work programmes and projects, you will be a team player who is organised and enjoys the challenge of working efficiently to tight deadlines.
