Future of Museum Learning for children and young people enquiry

September 2, 2013

In the summer of 2013 Arts Council England commissioned Sam Cairns to run an enquiry, Future of museum learning for children and young people, with the museum sector in England.

The aim of the enquiry was to inform work towards Arts Council’s goals and their strategic support for museum learning.

The enquiry included:

  • a research summary of the museum learning landscape and policy over the last 15 years
  • a roundtable contributed to by colleagues from across the museum sector, including GEM (Group for Education in Museums trustees
  • a final Thinkpiece intended to travel further and start new conversations, thinking and action.

GEM was pleased to support the enquiry through its trustees and are keen to continue conversations started in the roundtable with the aim of promoting and safeguarding the quality of museum learning provision.

If you are interested in hosting a similar roundtable in your institution or region please contact us using future@gem.org.uk.
