Collections Review and Rationalisation
A collections review is any formal assessment of your collections that follows a stated methodology, and enables a museum to improve its understanding of a collection so it can be used more effectively. The session will introduce different review methodologies and frameworks, planning a collections review and the relevant Spectrum 5.0 procedures. Reviews are often the first stage of rationalising collections, which might lead to the deaccessioning and disposal of objects. During this session we will also explore the ethical and legal considerations of deaccession and disposal.
This is a partnership event between the Collections Trust and Museum Development East Midlands.
